What to Wear on a First Date

Dressing for a first day can be tricky. You don’t know what your date expects, and you obviously want to make a good impression without dressing up too much, or not dressing up enough. First date outfits are especially tough right now, because not only is it summer, but there’s also a global pandemic going on. How do you make your mask look chic? Well, we’re here to help.

Jeans and a nice top is our go-to outfit for literally every occasion, and that’s because you can never go wrong with this look. It’s classy, yet sexy, chic, yet sophisticated, and you can always dress it up or down depending on the type of date.

Dinner date? Drinks? Going for a social distanced walk? Perfect — jeans and a nice top it is! Grab your fave pair of jeans (or if you can’t find a good pair you can check out our inventory) and a nice top and you’re good to go. When we say nice top, we mean a cute top, with a little added detail, like buttons down the front or a tank that ties at the shoulders. Something that you’d wear for a girls night, but not exactly with your parents.

You have to be cautious when choosing what shoes to wear on a first date. You don’t want wear a stiletto and come off as intimidating, but you also don’t want to wear your gym shoes and have them think you don’t care at all. That’s why a nice sandal in the summer or a boot in the winter, both with a small heel or not, is the perfect first date shoe.

Don’t forget to accessorize, but don’t over do it. Mid-sized hoops and a dainty necklace is ideal. Make sure your bag isn’t too flashy, keep it small and dull colored. You want your date to like you for what’s on the inside, remember.

If things go well, your date probably won’t remember what you wore on the first date and all the time and energy you put in probably wasn’t worth it, but we know it can be stressful to get ready for a first date, which is why we’re here to ease that stress.
