Has your mood been feeling kinda off lately? Like you just don’t feel like yourself, but you can’t pinpoint why? Don’t worry, you’re not alone, and we’re here to make things a little better.
We’re almost on day 80 of quarantining and working from home, and going back to the office doesn’t seem to be in the near future. The one thing we’ve been doing while working from home is getting dressed for work, and we definitely suggest you do it too. There are lots of benefits of getting dressed while working from home, and we’re here to break it down for you.
First, staying in your pajamas all day can have a negative impact on your productivity and motivation, and may be one of the main reasons you’re feeling down lately. Making your days at home as similar as possible to your days in the office can really shift your mood. Make a routine of getting up in the morning and getting ready for work, just like you would if you were going into the office. The longer you stay in bed in the morning, the harder it is to get out. This can create a positive feeling both mentally and physically, and as a result, lead to increased productivity and motivation. Something as simple as changing your outfit can create a boundary, or shift in your day to “work mode,” which promotes a professional atmosphere.
Just remember, looking good means feeling good, and getting dressed for work rather than staying in your pajamas or a sweatsuit all day can actually impact your effectiveness at work. It’s the little things that count, and it’s the little things that matter the most right now.
